Black was once known as Muddsuckers, a coffee shop located in the south east Como neighborhood. It was owned by Brad Cimaglio, one of the creators of Black: Coffee and Waffle Bar. According to their website, "In January of 2014 with the help of project manager Kelly Nelson and Rebecca Powers, they undertook a complete re-brand project into what is now Black Coffee and Waffle Bar."

Senior Colin Campbell recently released a new EP with his band Colin and the C-Notes—a band consisting of Campbell and his two brothers, Evan and Cameron. “The funny thing is that this band was made for me. I like bands and I didn’t have one at the time when I was offered a gig so I asked my three brothers and we made a band,” said Campbell.
