Megan Aller, VAME Manager

Megan is ready to graduate this up coming spring and eager to become a Nebraska Husker, fall 2015. She is a second year returning student on The Pony Express; she is also the VAME (visual arts managing editor). In the fall she runs cross country and is a very active Super Fan. Some of the things she enjoys is fishing, boating and spending time outside as much as she can.

Senior Captain, Rachel Hartwig, is practicing her hitting after the big win against Hill Murray 2-1. My goal is to enjoy my last varsity season and to play my best every game so I dont have any regrets, said Hartwig.

Announcers make the first call for the 1 mile. Stillwater gets ready and learns their lane.

Stillwater leads with a pack of strong runners in the 1 mile. Sophomore Ben Wicklund, is in the lead for the 1 mile. I just try to stay with the guy in the lead. Let them do all the work, said Wicklund. Wicklund ended up placing 7th in the 1 mile.

Stillwater lines up for the 1 mile. Juniors Henry Seeb and Evan Johnson, are eager to stat the race. I love the meets. Competing and the atmosphere is super fun, said Seeb.

Senior Brooks Carroll participates in the long jump as one of his events. I have learned a whole lot about sprinting and jumping techniques, said Carroll.

He is always motivating me as well as others, and pushing us to be the best. Matt has definitely made a positive impact on me in athletics, said senior Charlie Haumersen.

Photo by Rachel Steil Rock Critic for the Star Tribune, Jon Bream speaks to Stillwater Area High School newspaper students about the music business. In 1974, Bream began writing about music for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Since then, he has interviewed many musical artists including the King of Pop (Michael Jackson), the Queen of Soul (Aretha Franklin), Prince, Bob Dylan, U2, three Beatles, four Rolling Stones and all of Maroon 5. Bream has learned a lot about music over the past decade. He describes that music is basically one of the most powerful ways of expression. It is a universal language. People learn how to express themselves. Listeners understand themselves, and it makes them feel like someone else understands them, it is like sharing thoughts with community and we learn more about ourselves.
