Senior Sullivan Conlin has been playing baseball since he was 3 years old, and has played all the way up to varsity for Stillwater. With the help of his teammates and coaches, he has also been able to become the best athlete he can. Recently, Conlin has committed himself to play division one baseball at Creighton University to help himself further both this athletic and academic career.
Committing to something new is hard, but it can also be very exciting. It is always best to have a tight knit group of people to be excited with, too. For Conlin, that’s no different. His teammates and coaches are very proud of his commitment to Creighton, as he has worked hard to get to where he is now.
Fellow senior and teammate, Brennan Peterson said that he was “super excited to hear about his commitment. I know he’s worked so hard, so I was really happy to see that he’s going to be showing it at the next level.” Baseball coach Mike Parker said, “I was happy that someone else saw his talent. I think Creighton is going to be great for him because it’s a really strong school.”
Every athlete needs the help of others to help become the best person they can, both on and off the field. Luckily for Conlin, his teammates and coaches have always been there to help, and have been supporting him throughout his entire baseball journey.
“They’ve supported me when I’ve struggled, when I’ve had success, and they’re always there for me,” Conlin said. “Coach Parker, he’s the best. He’s always someone I can go to and just pour out whatever I need.”
Being able to play a division one sport is excellent to help hone an athlete’s skills and help them go even further in their athletic career. Of course, it is also up to the player and their community to believe in them as well. For Conlin, the support of his community is unwavering, and they firmly believe that he can go as far as he wants.
“I think Sullivan could be a very good pitcher,” Parker explained. “The way he’s already come along in the last two years at Stillwater, his potential is really high as a potential starter at a division one team and even a pro career.”
To become the best version of a teammate and an athlete that one can be, they must have the drive and commitment to be the best. Of course, Conlin shows his passion, drive and commitment towards what he does, and shows it through his joy in playing and worth ethic.
“Sullivan plays with a lot of joy, and that’s the fun part of him. He’s always got a smile on his face, and I like that,” Parker said. Peterson added that he thinks Conlin can go as far as he wants because of his dedication and hard work.
When becoming the best version of an athlete, one needs influence and inspiration. When it comes to Conlin’s inspiration towards his success, it comes from having been able to play with the same people for such a long time and seeing other talented people play as well.
“I’ve been playing baseball since I was three years old,” Conlin said, “and it’s been one of the best experiences of my life. Getting to grow through the game as a person, developing my skills each and every day, it’s amazing.”
Throughout his career, Conlin has been sticking with his motto, “don’t let mistakes disparage you, because they’re always going to happen, and you’re going to have to learn to push through them.” This has helped him to grow to where he is now, and hopefully what he will use as he continues to grow as both a player and a person.
