The DaVinci Fest is an annual event held by the Partnership Plan which will be held this year on Jan. 24. The DaVinci Fest in an event where students grades 4-12 can enter art and science projects they created and chose to either have them judged as part of a competition for various categories or just displayed for people to see. It is one of the only art and science fairs like it in the area and around 400 entries have been submitted in past years.
The DaVinci Fest is a great way for people to become better artists and improve their skills. It provides a safe space for the students to receive feedback on their art work and figure out how to improve.
“I feel like it’s a great opportunity to be able to receive feedback on something that you create, so that you can take a step back, and really be able to just work and improve on your skills. Just being able to learn and have people have live reactions to your artwork is just really great to improve as an artist,” junior Lily Berg said.
It is also a unique experience that not many people can experience elsewhere. It doesn’t matter what school people go to as long as they live inside district 834 boundaries anyone can enter.
It’s a really cool opportunity that the school has to let students display their artwork in a gallery setting that usually does not happen senior Zoe Hassani added.
The DaVinci Fest is an event that brings people together. It helps the community see what is happening in schools and see what students are working so hard on. It also helps students be inspired by what their peers are doing.
“It’s a big community thing. So people are all together. You get to be with your friends, you get to see a bunch of cool stuff. It’s something to look forward to even if you’re not actually putting anything in there. It’s a good time to get to be with people and to see cool things.” junior Isaiah Hansen said.
The DaVinci Fest is also a chance for students to express themselves and show what they can do in ways they normally cannot do in the classroom, unless they have a shop or art class most students do not get the opportunity to show what they are capable of doing.
“It’s definitely a way for people in the community or just even their friends, to be able to really see things that they’re capable of and things that they can create and do. In school, a lot of it is just learning what the teachers are telling you, and not much else. But I feel like that’s a really great way for people to be able to express what they’re capable of and their skill set and their interests,” Hansen said.
The DaVinci Fest will be open to the public from 12:30-4 p.m. Entry is free for everyone to see the artwork that the students are showing off. it will be a great opportunity to see what they worked so hard on.
