The tennis team has been successful this year, showing that perhaps having sisters on the team makes working together easier.

Jenna and Lexie, Hannah and Lizzy, and Aliza and Kelia. All of these girls have very different lives, but they do share one thing in common: they are all pairs of sisters playing on the girl’s varsity tennis team this season.

These sets of sisters are six of the 16 members on the varsity team helped lead their team to a ten and six winning record and they could not be enjoying it more.
The oldest set of sisters, senior twins Aliza Deming and Kelia Deming, have been playing tennis since third grade.  These sisters have been practicing with each other ever since then.  Having a sister on the tennis team right next to them during practices, games and home life can be challenging at times.
“It’s nice having a sister on the team most of the time, but because we are around each other a lot it is harder to consistently get along with each other,” said Kelia Deming.
The next oldest set of siblings, senior Jenna Sherrick and junior Lexie Sherrick, have been hitting the tennis ball back and forth, trying to out-play the other ever since they could pick up a racket.  Their mom taught them how to play.  These years of competitive practice have proved fruitful; Jenna has been starting on varsity for three years, and Lexie for one year as a junior.
“Playing on a team with Lexie is totally different than at home because when we are on the courts, I think of her as more of a close teammate than a sister,” said Jenna Sherrick.
The sisters that have the most age difference, senior Hannah Quinn and eighth grader Elizabeth Quinn have deep family roots connected to tennis.  Their parents met in high school, both of whom played tennis.  They eventually got married and decided to teach their daughters to play tennis at five years old.
Both sisters are home schooled, but that didn’t hinder their dreams of taking their tennis dreams to the college level.  In fact, Elizabeth knows for a fact that she wants to play tennis at the college level.  Both have loved playing on the Stillwater tennis team.
“At times it’s frustrating, but it’s a great opportunity to bond with my sister and create a strong relationship not only at home but on the court too,” said Hannah Quinn.
The sport of tennis has brought these different sets of sisters together all on one team, and will forever be in their memories.
