The Flowers for Families club is heartwarming for students looking to volunteer their time. The club meets on the first Monday of every month. The flower bouquets that are made go to the Lakeview Hospital for families with children in the NICU. This club brightens hospitals with its flower donations and uplifting cards of encouragement. Juniors Amelia Brody and Lila Parcheta wanted to find a way to spread positivity throughout their community. They started the club to promote kindness and joy.
Before assembling the flower bouquets, the club members learn about the families and their situation. This helps the students understand the importance of their gestures.
“There is a five-minute presentation about the families and their situation. We then pick the right flowers and assemble the bouquets to be ready for the hospital,” club leader Parcheta said.
The Flowers for Families club brings color and kindness to the community. It is a great opportunity to help those families in scary times. The club is amazing to join to bring comfort and show operation towards their community.
Therefore, Lakeview Hospital works with volunteers to support their families struggling in the NICU. The Flowers for Families club supports Lakeview by making beautiful flower bouquets. As a way to show appreciation, the families send in photos with their cards and flowers with a smile on their faces.
“We visit the hospital to drop off the flowers, then the hospital staff delivers them to the families within the NICU. After the process we normally receive pictures,” Parcheta said.
There is more to the club than volunteering. The Flowers for Families club’s goal is to spread kindness and joy to families who have been struggling. The flower bouquets and the thought of the student’s hand assembling them spread positivity to the ones in need. The small acts the club gifts remind families that they are not alone in their battle.
“It spreads kindness and lets people know that even when there are hard times, there is still hope and you will get through it,” freshman Bella Ringold said.
Flowers for Families club is all about bringing smiles to the NICU. It has a profound impact on the hospital. Flowers bring comfort and improve emotional well-being, bringing joy and a brighter day.
“The club started because I love making people smile and making their day better,” Brody said.
“I joined the club because I wanted to help out in the community and bring kindness around,” Ringold said.
