John Francis graduated Stillwater High School in 2000 and went to college for Ministry. His scholarship is in his honor after he lost his life climbing a mountain in Idaho in 2006. Nordic skiers that participate in nordic skiing primarily do cross country and mountain biking for their fall sport.  Cross country and biking helps maintain the endurance and muscle needed for the intense work needed for nordic skiing. Junior Sam Hanson said, "Jessie inspires me because she was put in the same position as everyone who skis at Stillwater. She had the same coaching staff, and used the same skis at the same meets.
