The bell has rung, and Mrs. Mitchell begins taking the students through Warm-ups, to prepare everyone's voice for a rehearsals worth of singing. She has her own style of running the choir through warm-ups, usually including some variation of a scale or pattern to both prepare students' voices and their minds to learn. Her reason for warm-ups is not only to prepare, but "to make sure everyone knows what they are doing, whether it be singing in tune or following along."

New choir teacher Angela Mitchell hits high note

The Choir lines up on the risers to prepare to sing one of their pieces titled, Tykus Tykus by Vaclovas Augustinas. This song is written in Lithuanian, and poses a tough rhythmic challenge for the choir. The lyrics tell of a beautiful woman who is enticed by a warrior, but he leaves her to fight in battle. This piece signifies one of the reasons that the Concert Choir at Stillwater is held to such a high standard, because of the ability of the choir to learn it accurately and in good time.

The Tenor section of the choir as they sing through first on the agenda of what Mrs. Mitchell has planned for the day. Members include Caleb Bakke, Matthew Palmquist, Ryan Yang, John Busse and a few more. The Tenors are the highest men's part in the choir. Mrs. Mitchell often says that singing Tenor in a choir is the hardest, so there is a lot of respect for these men in the Concert Choir.

Students stretch out their arms and necks to prepare to sing what Mrs. Mitchell has planned for the day, usually consisting of a run-through of a select few of the songs in the Choir's repertoire. Also, Mitchell has some students focus on specific voice parts by sending them off to a separate room to do a sectional, where a specific voice part learns their notes on their own, off away from the rest of the choir.

The Concert Choir members visit with each other, waiting for class to start. Mrs.Mitchell talks with Alto Caroline Alessi. This scene is a common occurrence daily, because of the strong friendships shared by members of the choir. Senior Emma Germundson has this to say about the choir, "Everyone seems more approachable this year, and the morals are high."
