Although the film was inspiring, I found the mechanics of the film were a little bit clunky. The producer tried to capture so many events and story’s of Marley’s life and keep up with all the family’s life in 1 hour and 47 minutes.

His songs like “One Love” “Get Up Stand Up” and “No Woman No Cry” carried a powerful message of peace and love and social justice. Marley believed that music had the ability to break down barriers that unite people from different backgrounds. He used his platform to advocate for equality, freedom and the end of oppression. Through his music, Marley became a symbol of hope.

Marley’s belief in Rastafarianism and advocacy for social change were sources of inspiration for many of his songs. Despite facing some  personal and political challenges throughout his life, including assassination attempt and cancer diagnosis, Marley remained  a symbol of Jamaican culture and identity.

He passed away on May 11, 1981 at the age of 36, from melanoma, a type of skin cancer it initially started as a lesion on his toe, but later spread through his whole body. But his music and message have lived on, influencing artists and fans all over the world his album “legend” a compilation of his hits is one of the best selling albums of all times.

Rastafarianism is a religious and cultural movement that  originated in Jamaica in the 1930s. It is based on the teachings of Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican political leader and activist. Rastafarians believe in the divinity and emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, whom they consider to be the messiah. Rastafarianism emphasizes African heritage, social justice and the rejection of western influences. It promotes a natural lifestyle, including a vegetarian diet and the use of marijuana as a sacrament. Rastafarians often wear their hair in dreadlocks as a symbol of their faith and connection to their African roots.

One Love, one heart, lets get together and feel alright.”

“One Love, one heart, lets get together and feel alright” a powerful Marley message of unity and love that resonates with many people. The Marley movie took a better part of ten years to make it gives a vision for the viewer on little parts of his life that were significant to his career. There has been a few movies made about Bob Marley’s life and career. One notable film is “Marley” which is a documentary directed by Kevin MacDonald. It delves into Marley’s upbringing, his rise to fame, and his impact on music and culture. The documentary features interviews with family friends, and fellow musicians, as well as rare footage to Marley himself. It’s a great way to learn more about the man behind the music.
