Sonia Moran is a junior at Stillwater Area High School. She was in the Stillwater School district her whole life. Sonia's hobbies are writing music, and hanging out with friends. Her favorite sport is riding horses.

Boys, girls track teams begin season

The boys warming up during practice. “This season is different because the athletes are different. Most of the athletes that contributed all the points necessary for all of our high finishes and powerful teams have graduated. Now it is time for the new kids on the play to get us there,” coach Scott Christensen says.

The girls are warming up. “I just really love running,” junior Lindsey Purrington says.

Everyone on the track team carries their own weight during the season. “Since we don’t necessarily have a single superstar, we need to work hard together and all carry the load,” senior Daniel Hammer says.

The boys track relaxing before practice. “I love running and spending time with my teammates and I’m very humbled that I get to continue my career next year,” senior Josh Phelps says.

The coaches are focusing on the runners as a team and not as individuals this season. “Each individual event coach is doing a great job this year emphasizing working hard each day as a team, more so than just individually,” junior Lindsey Purrington says.

Meeting new people comes along with playing the sport. “You get to meet a lot of cool people from different schools and do a sport that you enjoy playing together,” junior Amy Foss says.

Playing golf is a good way to be outdoors and meet new people. “I play golf because it is a great way to make new friends, have a good time outside, and enjoy doing the sport I love,” junior Amy Foss says.

Clay Birchland making a break out pass. “They dumped it in the zone and I saw there was someone open up the ice so I turned it up quick,” sophomore Clay Birchland says.

Stillwater winning the face-off. “Faces-offs can be the most important part of the game as it gives you possession of the puck which leads to goals and you need those to win,” senior T.J. O’Brien says.

Tying against Edina 4-4. “I've always loved watching hockey because I grew up watching my brother play on J Gold and now that my boyfriend plays on the J Gold team I get to continue to watch hockey,” junior Madi Schaffer says.

"I heard it was cool, I never used the app though," says sophomore Shamus Boe.

"There is enough music apps, they should have just stuck with what they have," says junior Myles Dodd.

"Its kind of expensive but well worth it," says junior Nick Seifert.

"You can use Youtube Red for a month with a free trial," says junior Emily Devins.

"Youtube Red is super cool and I really love using their offline music," says junior Jake Peterson.

Stillwater boys cross country team takes on Western Day with daisy dukes and some ripped up flannels! Junior Noah Kneeskurn says, "It's pretty awesome going to school and dressing up with some of the team members."

Pony fans are always hype during the halftime show! "Being able to wear red and sit in that student section is insanity," says junior Morgan Reinholdson. "It's like nothing matters besides the friends you are with and the game!"
