Lauren LeBourgeois is a junior at Stillwater High School, but she lives in Woodbury. She is a part of the Stillwater Band and Orchestra. In her free time, she enjoys playing her clarinet with Brian Jaap. She is also a part of the outside of school organization, Minnesota Youth Symphonies, and plays in the Symphony orchestra. She is a Copy Editor for the newspaper.

Social studies teacher Nancy Bader earns the prestigious Partnership award. “It is recognition of my work, and then I get to designate a school that gets a thousand dollars from the partnership plan, so of course I designated Stillwater High School,” Bader says.

Social studies teacher Nancy Bader is recognized with seven other district 834 staff. “There was a ceremony, and I got up and they handed me a plaque, and then I had to give a little talk. We all had to say a few words about whatever we wanted to talk about,” Bader says.

Social studies teacher Nancy Bader will miss her coworkers, “The people I get to work with, they’re intelligent, creative people, and we share a lot of information. We help solve problems and by listening to them, I become a better teacher,” Bader says.

Social studies teacher Nancy Bader has a lot of plans for retirement, “I live in a condo, so when I want to travel, I just lock the door and walk away. For someone who’s single and no kids, that’s really nice,” Bader says.

Social studies teacher Nancy Bader is retiring and will miss her hard working students. “They’re really with me every day, and supporting what we’re doing. I’ll miss the community of the people at the school,” Bader says.

Universal rules of ‘being cool’

A common problem in every highschool is cliques. Sometimes, a person is considered “cool” if they are in a certain clique. Students are willing to go to any extent to be “cool” or apart of a certain crowd. Junior Maya Eckert said, “Students would do anything to be cool. You hear about stories about kids doing drugs to be cool, kids changing the way they look to be cool, it happens all the time, you just don’t necessarily see it”

A popular brand here at Stillwater is Lululemon. They have a large variety of yoga wear and athletic clothings. Junior Heather Leyh says, “I know like a lot of girls are like hyped over Lululemon stuff, I don’t have any, I don’t really care, it’s expensive, so I’m not going to buy it.”

Every high school has their own trends, but some trends that are very common throughout most is the basic baggy shirt with tight pants. Junior Maya Eckert tells, “I like tight pants with baggy sweatshirts. Something comfortable, if you’re uncomfortable, it’s not worth it, like I feel like it’s really just what you’re comfortable in, like I usually wear something stretchy because it’s comfortable.”

There’s many brands and styles to wear clothes, but there are also popular ways one can wear their hair. McKenzie Claypool said, “To have long straight hair. Having cute clothes, like not sloppy, being presentable if you were to talk to somebody.”
