Alex Ehde is a junior at Stillwater High School. She is a social media reporter for the Pony Express and loves to write essays. Alex also loves to play softball and hockey and wants to play D1 softball in college at her dream school Madison, Wisconsin. She has two siblings, one brother in junior high and one sister in college.

After Ogdie retires, she plans to spend more time with her mother and husband. “I plan to do a lot more traveling with my husband and get a little better at golf. I also plan to spend more time with my mother,” Ogdie adds.

Stillwater Area High School has changed a lot since 1984. Ogdie was in the old high school which is now the Stillwater Junior High School. “I got to know a lot of my colleagues really quickly because I was teaching in their room. I lost any fear of someone sitting in my room watching me or observing me because I had those teachers around all the time and I had to get over it really fast,” Ogdie says.

Ogdie played tennis all through her high school years up until sophomore year in college at Augsburg when the program as cut out. “I played tennis at Augsburg until sophomore year when there was budget cuts. I also coached JV tennis for 14 years.”

Ogdie has created lots of memorable moments and feel she has accomplished her goal as a teacher. “I started at Oakland Jr. High and worked with a lot of good teachers out there my first year. I had a lot of good mentors here at the high school as well,” Ogdie says.

Ogdie has been teaching at Stillwater since 1984. She has impacted the students and staff throughout her years of teaching. “She has always been solid since I’ve been here and she’s someone I look to from the english department for leadership,” Principal Rob Bach says.

The Feminism Club members met on Feb 6 to make signs to put up around the high school to spread awareness and hopefully inspire a few people to join. I feel the purpose is both to educate our peers and also learn ourselves how to become more active feminists, Fry says.

Fiona Mattson is with one of the signs the club has made. The club wants people who are curious about human rights and equality to sign up and join. As a whole, we focus on human rights. The saying you can have equal rights without womens rights is very prominent for this club! Since its feminism club, its more focused towards the anti-sexism aspect of rights, Lysne says. Madison Fulin is seen making a poster to hang around the high school. This club is important to every member and they try to focus on the problems women keep hidden. I feel like it brings attention to unknown issues such as how common catcalling is, the presence of sexism in the media and the workplace, and more, Mya Lysne says. Photo credit to Alex Ehde.
