Some students dislike using the bathrooms because of other students “vaping”, so the administration is doing its best to reclaim the bathrooms. [Students] shouldnt have to feel like they cant go to the bathroom because kids are vaping, Paradise says.

The new SAHS policy of keeping the bathroom doors open has helped stop e-cigarette use in school. [Keeping the doors open] has helped because its a hurdle for them and it makes it more inconvenient,” School Resource Officer Lindsey Paradise says.

Many students feel uncomfortable when others are “vaping” in the bathrooms, so they sometimes have trouble finding a vape-free bathroom to go to. “People should save the vape for after school, senior Marley Rich says.

Many students believe that the bathroom doors at SAHS are sometimes locked to stop e-cigarette use, but this is not the case. “We do not lock bathrooms to stop e-cig use,” Kraft says. “Bathrooms are only locked when there is a problem such as vandalism or a biological spill.”

All of the bathrooms at SAHS have barrier walls in them, which give students privacy even if the bathroom door is open. “These are public bathrooms with privacy walls. Having the bathroom door open still allows for the necessary privacy,” Assistant Principal Matt Kraft says.

The Ponies celebrate winning the state championship on Nov. 3. “It was so surreal winning the championship,” senior defender Patrick Allan says. “I’ve been on the varsity team since I was a freshman, and all I’ve wanted to do is win. Finally doing it means the world to me and I’m glad I got to do it with this group of guys.”

Boys soccer team completes ‘Road to the Bank’

Even with hundreds of people in attendance, the stadium still felt empty during the state championship game on Nov. 3. “Playing in the bank was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before,” junior defender Weston McGinley says. “The atmosphere got my heart pounding and put a big smile on my face.”

The boys state soccer tournament took place in newly built US Bank stadium, which is also the home of Minnesota’s professional football team, the Vikings. “The game was super loud,” junior fan Mason Green says. “I think everybody had a lot of fun and it was super cool to be a part of something that awesome.”

Members of the girls swim and dive team prepare to begin a race. “The beginning of the races are very suspenseful,” says Jackson Wiley, a swim meet atende. “It gets really quiet, then everyone starts screaming once the buzzer goes off.”
