Isabel Boedigheimer is a junior at SAHS and is the Head Copy Editor for the Pony Express Newspaper. She enjoys playing piano, soccer, and spending time with family and friends. She loves dogs and has a puppy of her own, Chesney, who was adopted from the Humane Society. She hopes to pursue a career in journalism in the future.

This past summer Maxwell brought soccer balls to the children in Tanzania. Bartosh was on this particular trip and he is a soccer player so it suited him. Bartosh and Maxwell had a super hero day with the kids in Madala. “Stillwater students have gone in the past and each trip is tailored to the talents and interests of the students,” Maxwell explains.

With the different age groups Maxwell is teaching this year he has had to make slight adjustments to his style of teaching. “People used to think I was funny at the junior high. Now my students just stare at me,” Maxwell says jokingly.

On Monday in Mr. Maxwell’s avid class, they start talking more about their service project. Maxwell is going on his fourth year teaching AVID. He says, “I get to work with a really cool group of kids and my job is to motivate them to exceed any expectations that they put on themselves or that others put on them.”

Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs spray for sale at Walgreens at a cheap price. The colors range from “Fairest Glow” to “Deep Glow”. Unlike tanning, lotions and sprays show instant results. Junior Christabelle Mulcahy says, “If you apply it right, it will give you a very even and tan look. If you aren’t careful though, it can get blotchy and uneven in places.”

Tanning lotions for sale at Walgreens advertising an “instant sun kissed glow”. Lotions are not only a safer alternative but are also cheaper than tanning in a booth or getting a spray tan. “Lotions are the best choice for me because I can afford it and I can apply it whenever I feel like being tan. It lasts a few days but can be applied whenever you want,” says junior Christabelle Mulcahy.

According to melanoma.org, “Occasional use of tanning beds triples your chances [of getting melanoma]. Research also suggests a strong dose-response relationship - meaning the more sessions, hours and years spent tanning, the higher the risk of developing melanoma and other types of skin cancer.”

With prom coming up many girls think they have to be tan because it is the social norm, but natural skin is beautiful and going tanning in a bed is not worth the risk. According to melanoma.org, As many as 90% of melanomas are estimated to be caused by ultraviolet (UV) exposure. This includes UV exposure from the sun and from artificial sources, such as tanning beds.

Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN is where Jurek has spent a majority of her time. After having her first seizure and waking up in the hospital, Jurek says, I had no idea where I was or why I was there.”

Colin and the C notes performed at the Dugout Bar in Mahtomedi on Tuesday, December 29th for friends, family and more. The radio station 89.3 The Current said we were mind blowing awesome, Evan explained

Evan Campbell is the fourth of five brothers in his family. Even the two brothers not in the band made it out to the Dugout bar December 29th to watch Colin and the C notes perform. His three older brothers all made it home for the holidays. Being brothers is really cool because we are able to just read eachother, Campbellsaid.
