Dennis Toenjes is a junior at SAHS, his interests primarily include gaming and violin, you can usually find him playing one of the two! His favorite suspects are math and science. His immediate family is his parents, his older sister, three cats and two Corgis.

Orchestra Director Jerry Jones explains a passage while holding his violin. Usage of metaphors and analogies help students to see and feel what the music is asking of them. “I will miss being important to whom I think is the most exciting generation on the planet. Because everything is 'What can I learn, how can I do this, where am I going, I’ve got my life ahead of me and I want to make something of it.' It’s a tremendous privilege, I will miss it more than anything else. The medium I have used over the last 39 years is music. My kids want to be here, they are kinesthetically involved, they are emotionally involved and they are cognitively involved, I’m able to deal with the full complete student. There is no greater privilege on the face of the earth, than what I’ve been able to experience,” said Jones.

Orchestra Director Jerry Jones asks for the students to play higher, as they work together on intonation, or pitch, which is just one of the many musical fundamentals that Jones focuses on. Jones said, “One of the cool things about teaching music is that it is more than any other field, dependant on the teacher’s outlook and personality. I don’t have a set curriculum, the curriculum is the music, and the music depends on the level of the orchestra. So really, I have a a lot of freedom. It allows me to put my own personal spin on it. Somebody might have a totally different interpretation, so will it change? Of course it will, it has to.”

The Stippels' meeting was a chance one for sure, but as fate would have it, they met, started dating, and married 27 years ago. Roger Stippel explained, "The Friday after that dinner at her mothers house and after my freshmen game I pursued to build a conversation with Mrs. Stippel at which point I got her phone number." Lori Stippel offers the rest of the story, "I was dating somebody at the time and so he called me up wanting to know if I could go out with him on a Friday or Saturday and I had already had a date planned. I said, 'I'm really sorry, I have a date that night, and I said does that bother you?' And he paused briefly, and said, 'No, because in a week you'll just be dating me', and that was the case. Thirty nine days later he asked me to marry him and I said 'yup.'"
