“The differences on the team are incredible. Instead of one team, we’re more like four teams. Sprinters, distance, throwers, and verticals. We all practice separately, but when a meet comes along, we’re all ready and have the same winning mentality” sophomore Tyler Cullen said.

“When we perform well at meets and win, nobody sees the long hours we spend on the track, practicing in the cold or the rain. We show up and put in the work and the results follow” senior Zach Ebner said.

Stillwater made it to the third place game at the state tournament against Wayzata who later won state the following day. The whole tournament was a blast to be at. Although the boys didnt win first place, it was still fun to have the school and community cheering them on, senior Mathias Hoefferle said.

Every day after school, Shad drives his Subaru wagon full of teammates to the Lake Elmo park reserve where Nordic practice takes place. Shad has perfect attendance when it comes to practice. He is arguably the hardest working on the team, putting in more hours than anyone during the off season. Shad doesnt talk loudly or direct the team, instead he leads silently, and he has earned the respect from his team so that they follow his lead. Hes not a super loud guy, he just does what he should and everyone follows said co-captain Erik Nelson.
