SPCA’s sales from selling things like candies from other countries goes towards their funds of upcoming events and field trips. “In the past, we’ve gone to what’s called ‘Base Camp’ to do teamwork activities. We learned communication skills and had a lot of fun,” said junior May Xiong.

Students Promoting Cultural Awareness, or SPCA, is a club with about 10 members that focuses on promoting diversity around the school. Meeting every two weeks, the group discusses upcoming events and activities. This spring, SPCA plans to go to the Festival of Nations to learn about culture and diversity and share those ideas with the school.

SPCA is involved throughout the school by putting up posters with positive and informational messages. Slogans like, “Everyone smiles in the same language” are seen on posters. SPCA has also been involved in other things, like dress up days and selling items in the rotunda. “One way we represent our club is by wearing clothes from our heritage and by selling candies from other countries,” said sophomore Isaac Yang.

Vests are becoming more popular in everyday fashion, among men and women. "I wasn't sure about them at first, but I love them now," said junior Monique Rondeau.

Photo by Katie Beedle Students and staff are limited in their lunch options and do not have much of a say in what they eat due to federal and state school nutrition guidelines and regulations. Many students bring their own foods for lunch each day because they do not like what the school offers or they are not familiar with certain foods such as whole grains.
