Division I lacrosse opportunities for Anderson

Ellie Anderson

Anderson looks to pass the lacrosse ball to a teammate in a regular season game. “I like to think of myself as a ‘play-maker’ kind of teammate, not a goal scorer.”

Only a junior and already has a bright future in playing lacrosse. Defensemen Connor Anderson was elected captain for this upcoming season and is number one on the 2015 watch list of top prospects and players in Minnesota.

Anderson is thrilled about being captain of his team this season and has an idea of how he wants to play out his role of being a captain. He is determined to be an excellent captain.

“I’m going to provide my teammates all the information they need if they have any questions about their game times, practice times. I’m going to help by running camps for speed and agility. Also, I will have team meetings to celebrate the wins and discuss good and bad games,” said Anderson.

Teammates are looking forward to Anderson serving as a captain this season and are pleased that he was chosen.

Senior Captain Sam Sagissor said, “I am excited, Connor is a good leader and communicator. He will make a good co captain along with Jake Legato.”

Anderson was honored to have made the 2015 watch list of top prospects and players in Minnesota. He is going to continue to work hard and try to advance his lacrosse career.

Anderson said, “I feel like it’s an award that most people would love to have and with the title I am going  to use it to my fullest advantage and try to make it farther in my lacrosse career being that I am on the list.”

Not only is Anderson thrilled about making the watch list of top prospects and players in Minnesota, but his supportive teammates are as well.

“He is representing Stillwater and it is an honor for our team,” said Sagissor.

Anderson however, is not too worried about moving up and down on the list or other watch lists.  He plays because he enjoys it and does not pay too much attention to it, but is honored to be on it.

“I just play to play I don’t really think about the recruiting. I play for enjoyment, not for the stats,” said Anderson.

Anderson has a passion for the game of lacrosse and that gives him the motivation to work hard. His hard work pays off by him getting assists and by his team winning games.

“My favorite part of lacrosse is either getting assists or winning. It makes me feel like my team is worth something and that I know that my team is always there and ready to play,” said Anderson.

He has high expectations for himself and wants to continue playing lacrosse after high school. His dream is to play at a Division One school.

“For my future I am going to use that fully for all colleges that I

want to attend to. Right now I am trying to talk to The Air Force Academy,” said Anderson. “I want to play in college, I hope to get a full ride to a Division I college that is my plan. I would like to go to Denver University or The Air Force Academy.”

Anderson plays lacrosse because he has passion for the sport. He is hoping that his passion and hard work will enable him the opportunity to play Division I college lacrosse someday.
