New and improved lumberjack days
July 20, 2013
Lumberjack Days has been around forever, it seems, but the summer of 2012 held no such event. To many people’s dismay, Lumberjack Days was shut down due to complaints from vendors that have not been paid for 2010 or 2011 by the Lumberjack Days Festival Association. The City Council ruled that Lumberjack Days be shut down until a replacement could be found and all debt was paid off.
Jesse Kurtz and Bob Hart are proposing a new idea. These men are hoping to start a new festival called, Stillwater Valley Days. It would include a lot of river cities such as Afton and Marine and celebrate their history, not only Stillwater’s. Kurtz and Hart need to present their plan to the board and hopefully get it approved.
“We’re just a couple of local guys and we’re going to make it right. It’s going to be a whole different show. Let’s face it, the name ‘Lumberjack Days’ has been tarnished somewhat,” said Kurtz according to startribune.com.
This plan could brighten the summer and bring back the festival that everyone loves to gather for. It would bring some old and some new ideas together for a great new fair.
