Alpine captains push for number one
January 16, 2014
Now that snow is on its way, alpine season is here. The Alpine team is excited to see the strengths of the team this winter and are expecting a positive outcome.
Seeing that a lot of the top skiers were seniors last year and are now gone , the team is going to have to adjust to the loss of players just like any other year.
“Alpine season is among us and this year we have lots of shoes to fill in because of all the seniors that left last year” says junior Kyle Szczepanski.
It is better when the snow comes early because then the team can get extra practice time in before the actual season starts.
“I am so excited for the season to start so that I can learn and get better my junior year” explains Szczepanski.
The juniors and seniors this year will really have to step up to get further than they were last year if they want to make this a successful year for their team. “It is going to be hard work, but I know we can do better than last year” says Szczepanski.
The team this year is setting their expectations very high. Doing this will push the team to go further than the previous years and hopefully win big.
There are a lot of people at Stillwater Area High School who love to ski but don’t have enough time to be on a team for it. Vanessa Johnson said, “I love to ski, but I just do not have the time to make it to all the practices and tournaments and stuff. I ski st Afton Alps, and every once and a while I will see the alpine skiing teams from all over the area practicing out there.”
Skiers tend to say that skiing is harder than snowboarding and snowboarders to say that snowboarding is harder than skiing. I guess it depends on which one you like more.
The people on the Alpine team joined it for a reason. Because they love to ski. This year they are trying there hardest to reach their goals and become better as a whole and not just individually.
