Recently a new account called “The Meninist” made its way into the Twitter world by simply calling the account a meninist. The account has been stirring up students by tweeting and saying feminists are not fair because they have “double-standards”.

The Meninist account is the same as feminism, for men. Feminists want equal social rights for women, but the Meninist account is saying the feminists are being hypocritical. One example of what the Meninist account said is that women think it is unfair for men to judge women or think they are unattractive if they are overweight. The Meninist account said women should not get mad at men for thinking that because some women judge men or think they are unattractive if they are short.

Most of the arguing about the account started when the account began tweeting about girls having “double-standards” regarding the men in their lives’. This regards the issue of women not treating men the way they want to be treated themselves.

Junior Olivia Jungmann said, The Meninist account started tweeting things about how girls want to be treated equal but at the same time the girls aren’t treating the guys equal.”

The Meninist account has caused a lot of controversy between students and peers because some think the account is right, and some think the account is completely irrelevant. This has caused many arguments.

Junior Madison Jordan said, “I think the whole thing is just stupid and people need to stop getting so angry and stop taking this Meninist account seriously. It is just supposed to be a funny account but people took it too seriously.”

Some people have different opinions about this account. Those people believe that the tweets are justified.

Junior Tucker Naugle said, “Feminists are a bunch of people who want to be treated equal, but they themselves are the ones who aren’t treating people equal.”

The people who disagree with the tweets coming from the account have formed strong opinions.

“I know the account is supposed to be funny, but the Meninist is saying a ton of things that are not true at all, and some people think that what he is saying is true so it makes me mad,” said Jungmann.

The Meninist account is just supposed to be a comical account to try to get under some people’s skin and irritate people. It is safe to say that this has worked.

“It is just supposed to be a funny account but people took the arguing too far,” said Jordan.

In reality, the Meninist account is supposed to be a comedic Twitter account. Whether people are agreeing with the account or disagreeing with it, they are bringing up good points in their arguments.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and in this case, some people have had very strong opinions about what the account had to say (@TheMeninist).
