‘How I Met your Mother’ ends with a bang
April 2, 2014
After nine seasons, the popular television series, How I Met Your Mother, has decided to come to an end. The show has gained enormous popularity since it first aired in 2005. Viewers have had the chance to connect with the characters and follow them in each episode, but now they must say goodbye as the show moves on. On March 31, series fans watched the final episode with excitement and heavy hearts.
Fans were captured from episode one and hooked all the way through to episode 208, the final one. People have spent years building connections with each character, every romance and the idea of such great friendship. Now, the time has come to finally meet the mother of Ted’s children and put an end to the story.
After such a long time, viewers have become attached to the show and many have mixed feelings about its end. Some feel that the show should continue on simply because they do not want to let go, others think its time.
Senior Amanda Wolf said, “I’m really sad that the show is over, but all great things have to come to an end at some point.” How I Met Your Mother is known for its five main characters Robin, Ted, Marshall, Lily and Barney. Each character has a unique personality and story. Over the years, fans have had the opportunity to relate to each character, becoming closer to some more than others.
“The obvious answer for my favorite character would be Barney. That man is down right hilarious and has some incredible catch phrases. He is legendary, and unlike most characters on TV sitcoms,” said Wolf.
Everyone has a reason for beginning to watch a show in the first place. Most people that began watching How I Met Your Mother, however, have not stopped watching. They’ve fallen in love with the characters and the storyline. Also, the constant question of who the mother is, has kept fans pulled in to the end.
Wolf said, “I would say the main reason I got so into the show is because of its similarity to the show Friends. I started watching in 2006 and ever since then, I’ve been hooked. I’m just dying to finally find out how exactly Ted met the mother.”
The cast, of all people, is having the hardest time saying goodbye to the show they have all been a part of for nine years. They have developed friendships that will last the rest of their lives thanks to How I Met Your Mother.
According to cnn.com, Cobie Smulders, who plays the role of Robin Scherbatsky, said, “We had our last table read and I cried puddles of tears. It’s such a good group of people, such a great show. I get to play such a wonderful character. I’m so blessed and I’m sad to say goodbye, but we’ve been blessed to be on the air for nine years which doesn’t happen anymore.” Through countless love affairs and memorable moments, this show was nothing less than “legendary”.

This article was very nicely written. I like the phrase “legendary” used throughout the article. That was a nice touch. Also the info graphic does a nice job of pulling in how the series finale effected students.
