Mites players cheering on their teammates from the sidelines after one had scored a goal during the three on three tournament. Many memories were made and the mites had a lot of fun during this hockey festival which made for a fun-filled weekend for mites hockey players. It was super family friendly. I saw tons of families. Grandparents, brothers and sisters, parents watching these kids. It was great pond hockey like old fashioned pond hockey which was fun for the kids, says Ligday. It was a great family event and atmosphere, Glanzer adds.

A quick halftime break before the second half of a tournament game for this mites team. The coach is encouraging his players and giving good feedback to help them win the game. The festival also offered skill clinics along with the three on three tournament. It was fun because we explained to him that Oliver youre playing kids from all over Minnesota and Wisconsin, youre not just playing your other Stillwater teams. For him it was pretty cool because he got to play a team from Wisconsin, that was kind of fun, Ligday says.

The outdoor rink at the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center was hopping from Feb. 5-7. Over 50 mites teams came to Stillwater to participate in this event.We feel like it was a success because it brought business and people to Stillwater. The kids and families had a lot of fun, and we created some memorable experiences. People want us to do it again next year. Thats good, Glanzer says.

Pictured are former NHL players Dave Hanson, Bill Butters, Rob McClanahan, Jim Boo, Aaron Broten and Jack Carlson. Players were able to meet them, tale pictures with them and get their autographs. 10 to 15 NHL and Olympic hockey players all took the time to come out and support the event, Boo says.
