Elana Ross is a junior at Stillwater Area High school. She attend Oakland Junior high school before coming to Stillwater. She has been dancing since she was 3. She is the oldest of four kids, with two brothers and one sister. She also has a springer spaniel named Gideon. She is a photographer for SAHS Pony Express.

The girls are looking at a magazine one of the most common spots to find digitally altered images. Coury said, " "People think that it can take celebrities and place them on a pedestal and then people get the urge to want to be like that person and it is easier for the celebrities to promote the product. People will then want to buy the products because they will think it will make them look like that."

Hanson and Lehmann look for a good read. Many magazines use photo alterations as a way to enhance what is already there, like brightening up the color. Photographer Chris McDuffie says, “In advertising, there are plenty of situations that call for work in post. Beyond fashion, beauty, and celebrities, there's a whole world of products and services that require photos, and those photos need post-production. It could be as simple as color correction or as extensive as multiple layers composited together.”

Sophmores Celia Hanson and Emma Lehmann check out the different magazine options that are offered for sale. “I think that is is sad how altered photos have just become something that is so natural and normal. Everyone just just be happy the way they are made because every is beautiful in there own way,” Hanson says.

"Photoshopped photos can give a false sense of ideals and images of what people should look like. It puts pressure on young females of what a body the should look like, adding to the anxiety and social pressures. Which is why women apparent to makes are more likely to experience depression and eating disorders,” says Psychology teacher Gerard Coury.

The magazine Cosmopolitan is trying to promote “loving your body” with photo that had a very high chance of being distorted. "I think that people should not distort people's bodies because it makes the general public feel bad about themselves," Junior Rose Whitcomb said.

One of the most important pieces of advice Adam gave was, "Get to know your teachers, they are not out to get you. Even people who aren't advanced still don't know everything, even finding a group of people can help. Setting up a schedule to do the same amount of work and staying on task can also make a big difference," Adam says.

Marta in class during Mr.Stipple's lecture. "Find friends who have the same goals as you so you can stay motivated and on task, finding ways to get involved in school helps a lot and is a great way to make friends," Marta says.

Skiing is a sport that people can do for the majority of their life. Many start at young ages and continue on until old.Skiing is a sport that many enjoy during the winter. There are different reasons why people want to do it. "I have been skiing since I was 2 but not competitively untill I was 7."

Acrylic nails start new trend

The plastic tips are being glued onto the natural nail, from there they are cut down to the length and shape the customer prefers. "I hate painting my nails and with acrylics I can just pick out a color and be good for a month or so before I have to go in and get them done again," senior Hannah Haslach says.

This is the first step of many required to get acrylic nails. Nails have been cut down and sanded so the hardening material can tack onto the natural nail. "The process can be very damaging and rough on your real nails, in the end it is worth it because they look nice and the nail will go back to normal,"junior Madi Gackstetter says.

This picture shows what a students nails will look like before the polish goes on. The nails have been cut, filed, sanded down and glued together. "The process can get long, almost 45 minutes sometimes. The nails look very nice and healthy in the end though," sophomore Micaela Engebresten says.

Variety of tops students can purchase are shown here. Each are good for a specific activity. Sophomore Joe Raleigh says, "It is expensive, but worth it for the quality."

Lululemon catches on for men

Junior Isabelle Lombardi checks out the mens clothing at Lululemon. Lombardi says, "The men section of Lululemon has a lot of cut and stylish clothes."

Lululemon sells more than just tops, they offer vests, sweatshirts, sweatpants and much more. Junior Evan Tomaro says, "They have different types of clothing for specific training you may do."

Juniors Lombardi and Katie Friechels enter the newly remodeled Lululemon. Tomaro says, "The clothes are lightweight so it is hard to feel uncomfortable in them."
