Mattson, Constant begin makeup account
High school has always been seen as a time to be who you really are and do what you love. With the social media and internet access we have today, it’s easier than ever to be open about who you really are. For some students that means having an Instagram makeup page to share their talent.
Seniors Sarah Mattson and Emma Constant both share a love for makeup and now an Instagram makeup page called @beatfacebaddies ,to show their talent. Both girls have been interested in makeup for years and attend Century College to learn more about the makeup they want to do.
Both Mattson and Constant agree that having a friend to share makeup with is much better than just doing it alone.
“Emma and I talk about it (makeup) all the time, and support each other through everything it’s amazing,” Mattson said. “It’s definitely fun to share our makeup because we learn so much and when you get ready together there’s double the makeup,” Constant explained.
Constant started her makeup love in sixth grade while Mattson started after years of being a “Tom boy” first.
“I started wearing small amounts of makeup and I fell in love with being able to use my own face as a canvas for art, then as I’ve gotten older it’s turned into a collection which has been fun for me,” Constant said. “I was a big tomboy when I was younger then I decided I was done being a tomboy and wanted to play dress up and try makeup out which I loved,” Mattson said.
Sharing your makeup on an Instagram page can also be scary. You never know how people will feel about your styles.
“We decided to make a page because makeup is what we like like to do outside of school and what we’re hoping to do someday so we thought it’d be fun and might benefit some people to share our styles,” Constant explained. “I’m super self-conscious about it just cause I don’t know what people are thinking, it’s nice to be able to show how much I love makeup through the page though,” Mattson said.
Both girls also hope to make a living out of their love for makeup in their future.
“I didn’t at first because I thought I wouldn’t make enough but now being so close to graduating, I’ve realized I should just do something I love to do,” Constant said.
With so many makeup pages out their Mattson and Constant continue to show their more easy and cute styles for anyone to try out.
“Being able to help give make up looks and having them fall in love with how they look really means a lot to us,” Mattson said.

The tone is really good. It shows how a lot of girls in high school feel about makeup, and how it isn’t for anyone else except themselves. It shows that makeup is an outlet to express ones self, so the stereotype that women wear makeup to look good for men is crushed.

I really enjoyed reading this article. The lead left me wanting to read more. The quotes are fun, informative and really capture their love of makeup. I like how the article included that Mattson was a “Tom Boy” but is now into dressing up, it made the story entertaining.
