New zodiac sign leaves astrology followers confused
October 13, 2016
Sorry to all of the Scorpios who have persistent passion for what they believe in, the headstrong Aries or the stubborn Leo’s who will not believe that there might be a new zodiac sign.
NASA released a statement at the beginning of the year saying that 3,000 years ago, the Babylonians created the zodiac calendar we all know today. When they were dividing the constellations up for the zodiac calendar they decided to leave out a constellation, Ophiuchus, because 13 constellations did not divide evenly for the calendar.
According to Statistic Brain, 33 percent of the American population believe in astrology and check their horoscope daily. Seventy-five percent of astrology readers are women.
Junior Mya Baglio said, “I check my horoscope three times a day on three different websites. I look at my horoscope for the day, the next day and the week.”
The Washington Post found that the Earth’s axis tilts seven inches in an eastward direction each year, which causes the constellation Ophiuchus to be more present in the night sky. Earth’s yearly change in tilt causes some constellations to become more visible in the night sky.
Science teacher Jane Christoper said, “I have always known the constellation was there, but it is becoming more present in the night sky because of where we are positioned on the Earth’s axis.”
According to Astrology, depending on what zodiac sign someone was born under tells them what type of characteristics, dating styles and compatibilities you have or do not have. Many people have found connections to their zodiac traits once they read what their sign is like.
Baglio said, “I like astrology because I feel like I can better connect to myself knowing there is a connection to me and the night sky. I have made notes for my friends and it tell them more in depth about their signs because I think it is cool to see how different signs can interact.”
Find your fate lists many qualities for people born under the constellation Ophiuchus such as visionary, honest and seekers of wisdom. They are most compatible with Pisces or native Aries, Cancer, Libra and Scorpio.
Christopher said, “I think they should include Ophiuchus into they new zodiac calendar because why would they exclude just that one constellation and not any other ones.”
If they included Ophiuchus in the calendar it would change many zodiac signs and character traits that people currently have. People who were born under the Pisces zodiac, who like being alone, get changed to the zodiac sign Aquarius, who hate being alone. Someone who was born under the zodiac sign Libra suddenly gain adaptability because they are the sign Virgo now.
Baglio said, “I would be kind of upset if my sign changed because I identify so much as a Capricorn and I do not know how I would identify with my new sign.”
To all of the worried zodiac followers NASA said, “We study astronomy not astrology. We did not change any zodiac signs, we just did the math.”

In my opinion I like the new ones because I’ve always wanted to be an Aries but I got Taurus but I guess they don’t change
