One of the most famous actors on the planet, Johnny Depp, and his rising star ex-wife Amber Heard, went to court after they accused each other of false and defamatory allegations. Depp sued Amber for $50 million. A year and 5 months later, Emma Cooper directed a Netflix series on the trial.

The Netflix show on the trail does a great job of explaining the trial and the conflict behind it. It informs what the rumors on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook were about. It ties in how people feel and the issues it caused and it does a good job of letting the audience decide who they think is really guilty and who was lying. The series provided first person information of both sides.

For example Heard explained, “He holds up this bottle and kind of gesturing with the bottle towards me and uh i reach for it and he’d revoke it and kinda laugh at me and he’s holding out the bottle i think maybe the third time or so I get a hold of it, I pick it up and I slam it down on the ground right in between us and I smashed the bottle on the floor and that really set him off.”

Depp contradicted Heard’s testimony by explaining, “She grabbed the bottle of vodka and then just stood back and then hurled it at me takes the second bottle witch was the larger one she threw the large bottle and it made contact and shattered uh everywhere and then i realized that the tip of my finger had been severed” Depp’s story with proof of his severed finger.

Tying into domestic abuse the show talks about recognizing male abuse and that abuse has no gender and how hard it can be to speak up if someone is a victim. An example of domestic abuse is when Heard said,

You can tell people it was a fair fight and then see what the jury thinks. Tell the world Johnny, tell them Johnny Depp I a man. I’m a victim too of domestic violence its a fair fight and see how many people believe or side with you.

“You can tell people it was a fair fight and then see what the jury thinks. Tell the world Johnny, tell them Johnny Depp I’m a man. I’m a victim too of domestic violence its a fair fight and see how many people believe or side with you.”

The show also does a good job putting in the social media and show what was happening on TikTok and online that the jury could not see because they pledged not to be influenced or biased to one side or the other and only by what they hear from Johnny and Amber and the evidence.

Over the course of the trial, millions of dollars were generated by content creators.

“They’re pumping out videos about this trial videos that make johnny depp look good and amber heard look bad because those are the only ones that people want to see,”  Kathryn Tenbarge tech and culture reporter said.

The Netflix show on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is a must see. Viewers can see what their opinion is and who you think is truly guilty watching the show can give viewers a better understanding of the trial and it is really interesting.
