Everyone knows a thing or two about the presidential candidates running in 2016. In one of the most interesting and worst presidential races of all time, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have been fighting each other for the oval office.

When the race started, Hillary Clinton seemed like an obvious winner, but some lies and emails made people concerned with her ability to lead. Trump gained popularity by being the politician for voters who are sick of politicians, and was able to knock out 16 other candidates in the republican party. Now, the battle is gruesome, and each candidate is using every last punch they have to knock out the other. The race has gotten so brutal that some people will not discuss anything that even relates to politics.

Senior Mckenzie Claypool said, “I won’t talk about anything political, it just gets too controversial.”

For the longest time, Hillary Clinton’s draw for voters it the sole purpose of not being her alternative, Donald Trump. Donald Trump has said countless things to get himself in trouble and is losing support daily. Hillary crushed Bernie Sanders in the race for the nomination, but she got a lot of criticism for how she did it. She was seen as the bad guy, a bully. Hillary Clinton had significantly more money more support and more endorsements from Senators. Going into the California primary, she had 210 endorsements from Congress while Bernie Sanders had just eight.

A lot of people criticize Hillary Clinton for her dishonesty and they thought she was not trustworthy. The email scandal was not good for her at all and she spends most of her campaign convincing people to forget about it and apologizing for it. However, in the investigation investigators found 110 emails that contained classified information and made her look terrible after she said that she never sent anything classified.

Senior Eric Volkmeier commented, “Every time I see her or hear her talk, I don’t know how much I can trust because it’s been proven how much she has lied in the past.”

In 2007 Clinton began her Senate campaign, and Hillary kicked off the campaign with what she called and listening tour. A lot of people hated it and thought it was just one way for her to dodge the real issues, but she actually was working with her strong suit. People who have worked closely with Hillary Clinton over the years all say one thing about her: she is a good listener.

During her time as Secretary of State, people in the State Department quickly gained trust for her. In meetings she would a reference something from their work that might have been really small or something about them in a memo or work done years prior. The fact that she took the time to do the research on the people she was working with really got them on her side quickly.

In 1993 when Bill Clinton was president, one of his big things was that people with children should never live in poverty. When he drafted the bill, a journalist found a hole in it that would still let some people the impoverished even if they had family and worked 40 hours a week. The journalist emailed Hillary Clinton about it and by the next day we had a call from the White House wanting to discuss it and the week after that Bill Clinton signed the revised version of the bill into law.

Something that cannot be ignored as a factor in the presidential election is the fact that Hillary Clinton is a woman. Politics has forever been a place designed for males to dominate; not necessarily in the actual policies, but in the campaigning. Male traits such as standing in front of a crowd, being confident, and smiling and using a loud voice to convey your strength have always been useful in running for office.

With election day around the corner, polls show that Hillary Clinton will most likely be the next president. A lot of people are not too fond of Clinton, but she really is not that bad, she is actually alright.
