Andringa leaps into future dancing career
November 5, 2016
Being a student is hard enough, but to be a competitive dancer is not something all juniors can say. Junior Carson Andringa has an amazing talent and it shows. She has been at many different dance studios and has gone far distances to attend conventions.
Andringa has been in the world of dance since she was three years old, she has extensive experience. After 13 years in dance, she has competed in the NYCDA, which is a major dance convention in New York City.
It seems as if it would be difficult to balance school, dance and social life, but Andringa has it all planned out. While dancing between 2-4 hours a day she also has homework assignments for numerous classes. She has to plan out her time to revolve around what is most important.
Andringa’s dance friend Caitlyn Moyer says how hard the schedule is,”I always start dance right after school and go until 9 or 10. I also have to miss a lot of Friday’s for conventions and competitions.” While Andringa has a simple way to look at it that helps her. “School doesn’t really affect my schedule its just kinda doing homework and making sure you are organized,” Andringa said.
Andringa has been to various dance studios including Tremaine, Synergy Dance Academy, Nuvo and Star Bound and has created many valuable friendships. She has also grown with the people involved with dance, both fellow dancers and teachers. One of the teachers that watched her grow is Synergy dance teacher and choreographer Allison Bowes, who has taught Andringa for three years.
Bowes said, “In some ways, I can’t separate the two. Carson is dance. Dance is Carson. So much of what Carson has learned from her teammates, peers, teachers and choreographers has shaped who she is and how she lives her life in the best way.”
The future seems to be very bright for Andringa, who after 13 years of dancing wants to go further with her career and should be able to with her background in competitions such as NYCDA and travels across the country to compete with the Tremaine Performance Company, through which she has received the Tremain Teen Dancer of the year.
Carson explains what she wants to go after she graduates, “Hopefully to move out to LA and professionally dance for like Justin Bieber or Pitbull”, Bowles added, “I see and have always seen, Carson to be immensely successful if she chooses to pursue a career in dance after graduating.”
Many factors show Andringa going far and always having a successful career for whatever she chooses as best said by Bowels, “You can’t teach someone to have the kind of timing Carson has. It’s just deeply ingrained and she has a keen ear for musicality. The trend over time in which Carson has approached her dance training is consistent with success and I have not a doubt in my mind that her star will shine brightly as long as she stays true to herself- because she is great.”
