Breckheimer and Nederloe shows love has no boundaries

February has long been a time of romance. It is the month associated with Valentine’s Day.

While some would believe that this holiday honors only typical couples, the tides are turning as far as the world’s stance on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

The LGBT community strives to create a world of acceptance, where everyone can be celebrated for who they are.

A pair of female teenagers might seem like your typical young couple, but their love story is unlike many others.

Senior Jordan Breckheimer and junior Tanya Nederloe are breaking the social norms. Their relationship shows that love  knows no boundaries.

“I found her on Facebook first, but then we met in science class,” said Nederloe. “Yeah, we’re in food science together,” added Breckheimer.

The girls are unique. They instantly clicked because of their free-spirited style.

“I liked her hair and she liked my hair. We both had colored hair. We bonded over that,” said Breckheimer.
Both Breckheimer and Nederloe express themselves through their artsy outfits, makeup and hair.

Not only is their “look” different, but so are their personalities. Breckheimer and Nederloe strive to be kind to everyone. This is apparent through their welcoming smiles.

The couple’s confidence is inspiring. Nederloe shared the story of how she came out to her loved ones.

“After I started dating Jordan, I told my parents. They were very happy for me. As for my friends, I told them day by day. Everything was fine. I have a great support system. In fact, my entire family knows now, and they are all very happy for me”.

The girls have been dating for a over four months.

“I asked her out on the night of the Homecoming Dance,” said Breckheimer.

Witnessing the two hold hands and laugh, it is easy to see that they complement one another nicely.

Breckheimer and Nederloe’s story is especially prominent, considering the recent and ongoing marriage laws being passed by states.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the United States have evolved over time and vary greatly, depending on the state you live in.

So far, 16 states have passed gay marriage rights. These states include California, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine, Maryland and Washington.

“My advice for other couples is to not care what other people think. That is what Tanya and I do,” said Breckheimer.

It seems that this strategy works well for the couple. Breckheimer and Nederloe are unsure of their plans for Valentine’s Day, in light of the fact that Nederloe has to work that evening. The two girls are sure that no matter what they do it will be romantic and fun.
