To help people cope with the pandemic that is happening right now, actor John Krasinski had the creative idea to use his acting skills during quarantine. He has started a world-wide news station. He is only reporting good news to help people escape from all this bad news. He is taking it upon himself to spread good news during these tough times and many would agree doing it very well. He calls it SGN.

“He is a cool guy and is genuinely trying to make people happier,” junior Adam Gaertner.

He also includes a prom and graduation for high school students online because they missed or are going to miss them.

“My favorite episode is the prom episode. It is so funny and kind of lightens the mood, especially because a lot of high schoolers won’t get a prom this year, “ junior Maddie Motz said.

In SGN’s first episode, he talked about how it is the 15 year anniversary for “The Office”. To bring some of “The Office” fans a cool experience, he Facetimed Steve Carell who played Micheal Scott to talk about the best times on the set.

“Because I am an ‘Office’ fan and have watched John Krasinski over the years, he makes the news more interesting,” Gaertner said.

Although Krasinski is reporting the news he has always been an actor and is very good at adding some comic relief in the news to help people disconnect from life’s stresses.

I think he tries to be serious and sentimental on occasion but then lighten things up with his comedic relief.

“I think he relies a lot on humor because he knows that’s what people need/want to see right now. I think he tries to be serious and sentimental on occasion but then lighten things up with his comedic relief,” Motz said.

Different then normal life, basically everyone is in the same position of staying home with their families. Krasinski is good at connecting with the audience and also having his family involved.

“He makes it relatable because he mentions his family and their activities,” Gaertner said.

Krasinski is reporting a lot about the people who are risking their lives by saving others from Covid-19 like nurses, policemen and women, first responders and military organizations.

“For the past few weeks he’s been reporting about what goes on in the front lines and thanking all of the heroes for what they are doing,” Motz said.

For many quarantine isn’t too bad because they have their families to distract them but for others, they are in need of a distraction just as much as good news and that is what Krasinski has done with SGN.
