The Mixtape

March 26, 2018

Logic’s latest mixtape drop of “Bobby Tarantino II” came out of nowhere. Everyone was expecting there to be a sequel to one of his prior mixtapes that, “Bobby Tarantino”, that was dropped in 2016. The mixtape sequel has thirteen songs on it. He randomly dropped three singles, “44 More”, “Overnight” and “Everyday”. “Overnight” was dropped via music video that was filmed in Tokyo and Maui while there to record music.

On the mixtape, Logic collaborated with Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Marshmello. Unlike some of Logic’s other work, this mixtape only has one skit. The skit is the opening of the mixtape, it is Rick & Morty talking to each other about the difference between Logic’s albums and his mixtapes. His albums normally talk about personal things whereas his mixtapes are more upbeat.

This latest mixtape is Logic’s sixth one to date. On the album cover, Logic leaves little easter eggs or just extra little details. For example, on the box in the bottom left corner, there is a peace sign, a heart and a plus symbol. Indicating, “Peace, Love, and Positivity”, one of the rapper’s favorite messages. There is also things that correlate with Quentin Tarantino movies. Logic wrapping a bloody hand in the back of the car is like how in “Pulp Fiction”, the character Butch, is wrapping his bloody hand in the back of a taxi. Or the katana in the front seat is referring to “Kill Bill”.

Logic has always been a very unique artist and has done whatever he wanted to do with his music, not caring about others judgement.
