Trumps security costs prove hefty

President Trump’s security is costing more to taxpayers than previous presidents in this country. Trump should help pay for these high security costs because he planned to cut the amount taxpayers had to pay during his election.
Trump has taken many trips to Mar-a-Lago, or as he like to call the “Winter White House” since his inauguration. These costs to travel to his getaway location are costly, and his costs to protect his coveted Trump tower is on the rise too.
According to the Washington Post it costs $12,000 daily for security to reside at the Mar-a-Lago resort with basic necessities. If the trips to Mar-a-Lago continue the costs could heavily surpass Barack Obama’s vacation costs during his 8 year term. This was one of Obama’s was largest criticisms when he was in office.
“Every level of the federal government needs to be mindful of the way it spends taxpayer dollars,” Secretary Laura Mengelkamp said to the Washington Post.
Trump said in 2015, “I would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done,” according to the Hill newspaper. That does not seem to be on his agenda currently with all of the vacations he is taking to Mar-a-Lago.
Trump shouldn’t be going to Mar-a-Lago so often. If he continues traveling there and back taxpayers will have to pay more and more. One of the highlights of Trump’s campaign was that he would cut taxes for the American people. Trump could help pay for the costs without if he is really worth what he is. If he doesn’t keep his promise that would not look good for Trump in a nation already discontent with him.
The rising costs to keep the Trump family safe was earned by becoming president. It will cost $1 million a day to keep the Trump family safe according to a CNN Money report.

Former aide to Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, Bruce Bartlett, tweeted, “Trump is on track to spend $1 billion in 4 years housing his wife in NYC and vacationing in Mar-a-Lago virtually every week.”
If the costs continue to rise for the American taxpayer Trump should limit his vacations to reduce the security costs in Mar-a-Lago, and aid in the $1 million a day to protect the First family. It is his duty to do what the American people want and the people want to pay less.
