Hair has always been a focal point of beauty, and as styles changes year by year the idea of having the perfect hair has become an obsession. As hair standards rise, women have resorted to the use of fake hair. Hair extensions have been continually rising in popularity since the 1990’s in women and young teens, through late 20’s, and are expected to continue to rise in years to come.

Chances are a girl is going to be picky about the type of hair she is gonna get. Indian, Brazilian, synthetic or human, those are just a few of the most common extensions girl will buy. But it is not just about what they are made of, but also how they are worn. There are many styles of extensions such as, clip-in, glue-in, sew-in, micro-ring and tape extensions. According tocashmere hair online reviews, the real human hair clip-in extensions have the highest ratings.

The Twin Cities have several top salons to buy hair extensions. The top five most locally popular salons are: HAIRPOLICE, John Richards salon and Hair Studio all located in Minneapolis. Prices range greatly in extensions, with full head extensions on average cost $400-800, but individual clip-ins cost on average $20-30.

The rising popularity of hair extensions is caused by many reasons, such as a solution to ‘improper’ hair, and creating a thicker more voluminous look in just moments. They are not always just about about length and volume, colored hair extensions are also very popular for those who want a spunky streak of color without actually dying it.

“I often wish I had hair extensions because when it comes to events such as prom, I do not have the proper hair to put it up, or do anything with it because it is so short and thin, but by adding extensions it would give me more of an opportunity to do different styles with it,” junior Caysie Johnson said.

Hall added, “The day I joined the army, I decided to get my extensions, they made drill weekends easier having my hair in a bun, but they are also good for date nights when I want to style my hair in a different way.”

Options are endless with hair extensions, there are so many things a girl can do with them and so many reasons to get them. Not only do they help thicken and lengthen hair, but it can be a solution to busy mornings when there is little time to get ready for the day.

“When I was in seventh grade, I cut my hair really short and I instantly hated it and that is when I decided to get hair extensions. I loved them because I could do nearly anything with them, up or down they always looked great,” junior Olivia Schaak said.

Style, volume, length and color sums up the many reasons people will buy hair extensions. Trends come and go but with the continuing rise in popularity, hair extensions are not going anywhere any time soon.
