Builders Club improves community early on
Serving the world one community at a time, that is what the Builders club at Stillwater Junior High School stands for. Their goal is to improve the community with the help of the Kiwanis club alongside them. The club aims to create service-minded students and provide leadership opportunities for young people.
Kiwanis is an organization that was established in Stillwater around 2012. They help to develop the youth and raise donations for pediatric research. Their goal is to raise awareness about the needs of children within our community. With the Builders Club and Kiwanis teaming up, the two will make a difference in our community.
Both Key Club and Builders Club allow everyone to get involved because service is not just for kids with a high GPA.

Through the Builders Club kids can help people in need and make their lives better, it is also a great way for students to learn how to run an organization.
“The Builders Club is like an NJHS of Key Club. NHS has NJHS to get kids interested in joining at the Highschool level, and the intention behind the Builders Club is the same. The Builders Club is a student led service organization that plans and participates in their own service events,” junior Jordan Wallace said.
The students in the club take on a big leadership role. Through the Builders Club, they work together, or individually, to make lasting impressions.
Wallace said, “I think the most rewarding part of Key Club and Builders Club, is getting kids involved in service. NHS is great and all, but it is only available to kids with a certain GPA, and that really excludes a lot of kids from being able to participate in service through a school organization. Both Key Club and Builders Club allow everyone to get involved because service is not just for kids with a high GPA.”
They also partner up with the Key Club and Kiwanis Club, which is another organization at the high school level.
“The Builders Club was founded by Stillwater Kiwanis (which is the adult level of the Key Family),” Wallace said.
The Key Club helps many people throughout the community. They work together to create better opportunities for citizens. It is also a great outlet for kids in the community to get involved.
The Builders club helps to benefit the community of Stillwater, plus it helps to give the kids a bond within the group.
“I like Key Club because of the sense of community it provides for both the club members and the people we are able to help out,” sophomore Sintra Nichols said.
“The Builders Club helps middle school kids, of any GPA, get involved in their community. It allows them to participate in voluntary service that improves the world and lives around them. It gets kids involved at a young age. It is amazing to see such dedication and generosity within these kids,” Wallace said.
Students at SJHS have helped to change the community one family at a time. They work together to help out and improve Stillwater. With the aid of the Builders Club, they have reached out to those in need and have touched many as well. Their plan is to keep this club alive, with hope for bigger projects in the future.
