The Zephyr locomotives were removed from Stillwater on Dec. 15. The locomotives were starting to become a nuisance. They are being held in Randolph, Minnesota and will then be shipped to Alamosa, Colorado. “They have been sitting there a long time, and it’s good they will finally be put to use again,” said Stillwater resident Beth Gjerde.

The trains will be sent to New Mexico to be redone and repurposed. Having been sat unused for so long in Stillwater, the locomotives will now have a use. “I was disappointed to see the Zephyr shut down. I enjoyed several outings on it,” said Marx.

The Minnesota Zephyr Locomotive 787 and Locomotive 788 sit without a battery, chained and ready to be shipped out to their new site to be repurposed. “I was happy to hear that it is going to be utilized for touring and other things,” said Stillwater resident Aaron Marx.

The old dinner trains were sold to Heritage Rail Leasing. They will stay in Alamosa until they are moved again to a New Mexico. The wheels have also been loaded and ready to be shipped. “I ate there once. The dinner was very fancy, and it took around an hour there and an hour back for the ride,” said Gjerde.

The locomotives, once a place to eat in Stillwater, are boarded and ready to be shipped to Colorado due to public problems in the city. “It was a unique dining experience, which was served in multiple courses,” said Gjerde.
