A crowd of last years ice cream social attendees. A total of about 1200 came to the event, and over 1200 ice cream cones were given away. The most popular flavor was probably Peppermint BonBon, says Leos Grill and Malt Shop owner Cory Buettner. Leos has generously donated all of the ice cream, cones and coffee to the event for the past several years.

Photo by Megan Friedrich Nelson’s serves more than 40 types of ice creams, varying in flavor so there is something for everyone. The renovations have made Nelson’s better for both the customers as well as the workers. “I think moving the window really helped with the line because it allows the workers to see how long the line is to better serve customers and it also allows them to know whether they have to rush or if there is time to have a conversation with customers.” said Samantha Mccoy.
