Motivational words drive greatness

Kenzie Monson

Words do not seem like they can do much damage to a person, but they can. On the other hand, there are motivational words that can help bring a student to life and that can help achieve their potential in the world. There are quotes people are inspired by, what they can say to inspire others, and certain things that other people say to inspire them definitely affect our lives.

Students in high school are more common to be bullies rather than help lift people up. It is normally harder for high school students to excel because they have a difficult time being made fun of or perhaps getting depressed because of the bullying. However, there are some motivational students who can be helpful and try to help kids who are struggling.

Junior Megan Ellison said, “Motivational words help people to want to continue their lives, I think. I use them all the time!”

There are ways that people can be affected by motivational words and there are ways that they can also help others. Motivational words give people the power to believe in themselves and sometimes all it takes is for someone to be nice to them or give them a smile in order to brighten their day or even make it better. One person can save someone’s life without even knowing it, by just being nice or uplifting.

“Some of the motivational words I personally use are, ‘You look really good’, ‘I’m sure you’re just a beast’, ‘hey guess what… You’re pretty.’ Yeah I say stuff like that a lot,” said junior Joe Saunders.

Junior Lauren Jorgensen said, “I say that the best is yet to come and that life is all about the ups and downs, it’s what you make out of it that counts.”

Other opinions on the power of words could be that it is helping someone set up their future. Making a decision and staying by it no matter what could happen in the future. Not letting it affect students, even though it still might deep down. This helps people realize the talents and personality characteristics that they have, and what to do about them.

Counselor Kristina King said, “Goal setting can be motivational because it is the drive towards something meaningful. You have to break down the steps to reach that goal and see the strengths and weaknesses and students can work on.”

Sometimes students feel empowered on their own, and they believe in themselves until someone says something to bring them down. They feel invincible and like they can accomplish anything.

Jorgensen said, “I think words temporarily change how someone feels. Like anyone can feel empowered and pumped after a motivational speaker, but who really does anything afterwards?”

Quotes can change a person’s view on things and the way life is. It truly can affect how they live their lives, and there are some inspiring quotes that people say to other people or think to themselves.

Saunders said, “The question is not how far, the question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed? This was said by the Duke.”

It does go both ways, and it continues to every day in someone’s life. The words people say can affect someone deeply. The choices we make and the words we choose to say to others affect our futures. The power of words helps with that, and will forever be in the lives of everyone.
